Forming a New County Club
Dear Perspective County Club Member:
Thank you for your interest in starting up a new Kansas Young Republican club in your county. As I am sure you are aware the KYRs are a professional, energetic, and motivated organization looking to ensure the strength of the Kansas Republican Party. Your interest in starting a local chapter will go a long way towards achieving this goal.
Enclosed below please find the criteria which will be necessary to move forward on having your group recognized by the Kansas Young Republican State Committee. Once you have completed the below listed items you will be direct to submit that information to the State Committee. Once the State Executive Committee has had an opportunity to review you application and decision will be voted on to recognize your group as a NEW chartered member of the Kansas Young Republicans.
Forming an NEW Kansas Young Republican County Club
A.) Contact the Kansas Young Republican State Executive Committee Chair to obtain information and procedures for organizing a new county organization.
B.) You should introduce yourself to the County Republican Party Chair and other County Republican Party organizations.
C.) Call an informal meeting of prospective members to plan an organizational meeting.
D.) Invite the State KYR Chair and KYR Executive Committee to attend the meeting to explain the benefits of the KYR membership and the advantages open to county clubs. (A member of the KYR Executive Committee must be in attendance for this organizational meeting.)
E.) Hold an Organizational Meeting
Suggestions as to how to run the meeting are included below:
1.) Have the Chair / Membership Chair speak
2.) Select a temporary Chair and Secretary to act until officers are elected.
3.) Choose the name of your county club.
4.) Draft a Constitution and Bylaws
5.) Elect officers. Those officers may serve until the club is chartered or they may be elected to serve the full term as specified in the adopted bylaws.
6.) Select a day, time and place for the next meeting.
F.) Submit a letter of intent to form a new club to the KYR Executive Committee. Included in that submission please provide a statement of purpose, the name of the new club, a roster of officers, the newly adopted constitution and bylaws, a membership roster and any letters of support from other county GOP organizations.
G.) The KYR Executive Committee will notify the club of acceptance of the charter by letter. A certificate of the club charter will accompany the letter, affixed with the date the club is approved by the State Executive Committee.
